This immersive indoor Zen garden imagines a primordial landscape shaped by the gravity and vibrations of cosmic objects. Metal and ceramic sculptures in the form of black holes, wormholes, and soundwaves resonate through an ambient score that orbits around the space, inducing a feeling of contemplative stillness and transcendence. A rippling landscape of black volcanic sand across the gallery creates a sense of primordial other-worldliness, a planet at the beginning or end of time. This meditation on time and change provides a space to contemplate the transitory nature of things where form is fluid and time is suspended, illusion, imagination, and belief converge.
Commissioned by Attenborough Arts Centre. Supported by University of Leicester and Arts Council England. Sound design by Dylan Henry Price.
